Brandon started Powerman Boxing because he wanted to create what he never saw in boxing and athletics: a fat athlete who wasn’t set up to be a joke or fall guy. Inspired by his wife and their love of the titular comic Luke Cage and his unbreakable skin, he donned the Powerman mantle.

Just like his favorite hero, he believes in the mantra #alwaysforward and being indomitable no matter what life throws at him. Now he hopes to use his platform to inspire change in how people view masculinity, mental health and failure because these are all apart of his journey towards becoming a champion in both boxing and life.

Brandon Hodges holds an MA in Communications from Georgia State University. He currently resides in Tampa where he now dedicates his time to boxing and training full time with hopes of being the example he wants to see in the industry and world. He wants to eradicate negative stereotypes about mental health, fat people, and black people one fight at a time.
